Everything You Need to Know About Google Posts

Have you heard of Google Posts? No, Don’t worry not everyone has, but you need to start learning about the new feature Google has added to Google My Business. Originally this feature was only available to select few small businesses, celebrities and sports leagues. Now the Google Posts feature is available to all.

Google Posts - What is it?

What is a Google Post?

Google Posts is a new feature that allows businesses to create small snippets of content directly on Google. The content appears on both Google search and within map results.

When someone searches for your business by name, your Google Post will appear below the location and contact information of your Google My Business listing.

If someone searches for your business with the products/services you provide, instead of your name, your Google Post can also be seen within Google’s Local Finder when a person clicks on your business for more details.

Posts will remain visible for a week unless you manually remove it before. If you post an event, it will run until the event’s end date.

The Benefits of Google Posts

Using Google Posts will allow businesses to do the following:

  • Share specials or discounts
  • Recent blog posts
  • Promote your events
  • Share announcements

How to Create your first Google Post

First login into your Google My Business. Next, in your Google My Business Account, go to your business listing and click on “Posts” in the left menu. Users can upload an image, write text (up to 300 words), and even post an event with start and end dates. Users can add a call to actions (CTAs) to their posts e.g. Learn More, Buy Now and so on.

Should you Start using Google Posts?

Yes, it will not do any harm and it’s made BY Google and they love their own stuff! Many small businesses are seeing a spike in traffic to their websites, but I would recommend only posting up to 2 posts a week, any more will likely not be seen.

The Round-Up

This new feature is another good sign that Google loves helping small businesses promote their products and services, So, If you are not setup on Google My Business then I would highly recommend you do so today!
