5 Basic Tips for Making the Most of Your Facebook Business Page

This week we’re going to take it back to basics and offer some general advice that will help your Facebook Business Page run a little more smoothly and appeal to your potential customers.

Of course you can boost your posts, pay for ads etc., but you’re already marketing to some level just by being on Facebook.

Having a Facebook business page gets your name out there. It makes your business discoverable within the online community and allows you to share your products with an online audience, that you wouldn’t otherwise be reaching.

So, here are 5 basic tips on how to make the most out of your Facebook page!

  1. Use a recognizable profile picture

Using a recognizable profile picture is an important part of your branding. If your profile picture is distinct and consistent across all platforms, over time your online audience will remember who you are. They’ll start to associate the service your provide, with your business. So in time when they need a vet or maybe a plumber – they’re much more likely to use you!

  1. Optimize your “about” section and provide necessary information

When people go to your Facebook page, it’s because they want to buy your product/service, or they want to find out more about your business before buying. This means you should really utilize the space your given (the “about” section) to tell them about your business and how what you offer can help them!

  1. Post at an appropriate time for your audience

There’s a lot of information online about the best time to post on Facebook. Some say 12pm – 3pm on a weekday, others say 4-6pm on the weekend. There’s no one-size fits all when it comes to posting time, it depends on your target audience. If your target audience is 30-year-old females with young children – I wouldn’t recommend posting at school drop off or dinner time. If you’re a bar and restaurant who is known for their weekend live music, maybe post later on in the week when people are hyped for the weekend. Let your knowledge of your target audience guide you when it comes to posting on Facebook.

  1. Be consistent in your posting

When it comes to running a Facebook business page, being consistent in your posting is essential. Now we aren’t saying you have to post 3 times a day every single day of the week! That’s unrealistic and possibly even annoying for your audience. Finding the time to make a daily Facebook post can be easy for some but stressful for others. If you do post daily that’s great, but if you don’t that’s okay too! You may find that 2 – 3 times a week is enough for you, or even once a week. Whether you post daily or weekly – keep it consistent.

  1. Schedule your posts!

To carry on from the point we made above and reiterate what we talked about in last week’s blog post – scheduling your Facebook posts can make your life so much easier. Not only does it take the heat off coming up with a post on the spot – it also allows for your posts to be well thought out and planned. After a while, you’ll probably have created a backlog of posts that are just waiting to be published. This means you don’t even have to think about what to post next, they just keep rolling out at a consistent rate.
